Celebrating two major milestones—the 150th anniversary of the world premiere of Aida on December 24, 1871, and 90 years of the Met’s Saturday Matinee Broadcasts—this compilation brings together selections from Verdi’s monumental masterpiece. The recordings—drawn from the Met’s 90 years on air—feature the artistry of some of the biggest operatic talents: Martina Arroyo, Grace Bumbry, Leontyne Price, Dolora Zajick, Franco Corelli, Plácido Domingo, Robert Merril, and Roberto Alagna.
