2021–22 Season Opening Night at Times Square
Metropolitan Opera 2021
Metropolitan Opera 2021
The highly anticipated opening night at the Met each fall—a New York institution—is transmitted live in one of the world’s most special entertainment hubs: Times Square. The animated and still graphics—promoting the new season—play on a loop for the entirety of the performance across multiple giant screens. The 2021–22 season launched with the premiere of Grammy Award-winner Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones, an adaptation of Charles M. Blow’s memoir. The new staging, co-direct by James Robinson and Camille A. Brown, featured Baritone Will Liverman and sopranos Angel Blue and Latonia Moore.
