Automatism allows the unconscious to take control during the creative process. This method was utilized by surrealist crowd as a means to facilitate artistic production. It was associated with esotericism, alchemy, and the occult, and eventually with Freud’s revolutionary psychoanalysis theories. I kept a written record of my dreams, as detailed as possible, for a period of ten days. The words took various formats and were printed on different materials; they were in turn frozen and photographed; ice becomes a metaphor for the ephemeral and unsettling nature of this experience, while the somewhat visible fragments of text through the ice remind the viewer of the ambiguousness and unpredictability of dreams.
