To Transform
Columbia University School of the Arts       2023
Organized by Gavin Browning, Director of Public Programs and Engagement at Columbia University School of the Arts, this event series invited prominent artists to present their work and research through screenings, conversations, readings, and panels. The Fall 2023 programming revolved around the concept of “To Transform.” The identity takes inspiration primarily from the understanding of transformation in relation to society. Throughout history, public expressions have sought to promote, defy, question and change conventions and ideas; artists often being at the forefront of these movements. To create a sense of consistency, the bold typographic treatment—set in Franklin Gothic and inspired in the striking and effective signage used in protests—becomes the visual unifier in all materials, from posters and programs, to screens around campus and social media.

The Fall season featured Shane McCrae and Timothy Donnelly; Pratibha Parmar and Tom Kalin; Adama Delphine Fawundu and Kellie Jones; Dorothea Lasky, Victor LaValle, and Jack Halberstam; and María Magdalena Campos-Pons and David Antonio Cruz.
